NBC South Florida is owned by NBCUniversal. It is an affiliate of the network NBC network. As an affiliate, NBC 6 tends to focus its original news coverage on local issues during the traditional morning, mid-day, evening and late-night news slots. The WTVJ news department currently produces 31 hours of station produced news broadcasts per week. Each weekday, there are five hours of newscasts, and an additional three hours for each day of the weekend.
